CaernarfonOnline News

Caernarfon showed its feelings towards the Assembly today by snubbing the large screen laid on by the BBC on the Maes. We visited the Maes at 10.45am, (when the program started) and were greeted by the organisers. However we noticed that no one else were present.

The Maes at 10.45am

We decided that it may be a bit early so returned at 12pm when the Queen was in her car

The Queen's Car shown on the screen 12pm

The Queen smiles to the onlookers, but no one is watching at  Caernarfon

Our photos clearly show the Queen arriving in her car with Caernarfon locals keeping away in what we later found out to be a protest against both the Assembly and the Royal family.

We walked up Pool Street to get the views of locals and these are the comments we received.

" I am totally disinterested in the Assembly, I voted no then and would do so again."

"The Assembly has done nothing for Wales - we are taking a step back into the dark ages"

" The Queen has been invited to Caernarfon and chose to turn us down,  why should we turn out for her?"

" I have far better things to do than watch something which is happening hundreds of miles away, I  have to paint my back door"

"The first three letters of the Assembly says it all!"

It seems that the BBC had gone to all this trouble for nothing. There is clearly a feeling of apathy to both the Assembly and the Royal Family in Caernarfon.
